E-mail update

Here’s the e-mail we sent out on May 1st about the pool.

Please read this (long!!) email with important information related to our hope of saving the pool.

Alyssa Pasquale and I would like to update everyone as to what we currently know about the pool.

Current information indicates that the subject of closing the pool will be discussed at the College of DuPage Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Student Services Center (SSC), Room 2200. A campus map, and a map of SSC, are attached to this email. Please do your best to attend this meeting. One must be there right at 6:00 to sign up to speak during the public comments time. I have been told the routine is then for the board to go into private session for “a while.” The board then returns to the public session. I’ve been told it’s fairly typical for them to be behind closed doors for about an hour. After the closed session is over, then public comments usually start. Everyone who signed up at 6:00 is allowed three minutes to speak. If you have appeared before the board previously and have additional information to share on board procedures, please let us know!

PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING!  You don’t need to speak unless you really want to, but please come! There is strength in numbers. If a lot of us attend, the board will realize we are very serious about saving the pool. It will likely be a very long night, but we need to stand united!

Here is an easy-to-use link to our petition to save the pool. https://forms.gle/H4QLgd6ixPzSDQkQA

Please pass it on to as many DuPage County residents as you see fit and ask them to sign it and pass it along to their friends and neighbors. The more signatures we get, the more the Board will pay attention to us. (Many of you have already signed the hard copy of this petition on the pool deck. Thank you for doing so! This link is to the same petition, so please do not also sign the e-version if you signed the paper version.)

We also have a website with information about the pool closure and how you can get involved online at https://www.savethecodpool.com

Please email me (Linda) a paragraph or two about what the pool means to you. Please sign your full name to the email, as I will be consolidating everything I receive into a document to share with the board. Please get this to me by Friday, May 8, at noon.

Thank you!
